The Holistic Psychologist
США
Добавлен 2 фев 2015
Dr. Nicole LePera was trained in clinical psychology at Cornell University and the New School for Social Research and studied at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. She is a holistic psychologist whose work addresses the connection between the mind, body, and soul incorporating overall lifestyle and psychological wellness practices. She is the creator of the #SelfHealers movement where people from around the world are joining together in a community to take healing into their own hands.
As a clinical psychologist, Dr. LePera often found herself frustrated by the limitations of traditional psychotherapy. Wanting more for her patients-and for herself-she began a journey to develop a united philosophy of mental, physical, and spiritual wellness that equips people with the interdisciplinary tools necessary to heal themselves. After experiencing the life-changing results herself, she began to share what she’d learned with others-and soon “The Holistic Psychologist” was born.

Traits of an Emotionally Immature Parent
Ok. So what’s the solution? Cause I’m crying because I do it all the time and when I actually do something on my list I’m excited and then question myself because it didn’t actually take that long. I am appreciative of the information still.
Ivebeen with my husband for 10 years and my mom sees any negative he bring on my life and none of the negativity she brings on mine
I ask and it doesn't get done there for i do it myself
This hits home big time
“That didn’t happen” my mom always says that or “I would never do that” well you did and it’s funny how all three of your kids remember it as a traumatizing experience and you don’t remember it all.
FUCK DUDE didn’t know some people live like this.
When I was a child and now I love to draw smiley faces all over my paper and it calms me down. Now I know why it relaxes me. 😌
Seriously, does someone talk about the invisible one? Ever? I get it, though.
My brother just like that😢
I am in freeze. My husband betrayed me. He is doing things behind my back with our finances. Devastated
THE SECOND ONE! If I had a dollar for every time someone thought I was overreacting 😭 people making sudden, fast movements or hug/touch without asking are the worst for me.
Empathy would be nice right now. Not you can do better. Yada yada yada. After a breakup. This is why I prefer the crisis line over friends and family.😢
Does anyone like the first girls mouth?? Like I could watch her talk forever lol
✨️ invalidation ✨️
Damn dude i am in this video and i dont like it haha
😭😭😭😭😭😭
.... sudden realization 😵💫🤯
Oh 💩 explaining (?).😮h, can't be done. Ghosted them.😂😊
This was my ex-mither-in-law whilst I was married. Even worse now we're divorced.
Family is nowhere eventually. ❤Self-love. There is no point in visiting the past. Healing without them.
This is all I heard when my wife and I were separated. Thankfully her parents and I were still close because it was nice talking to someone about it that didn’t have a negative opinion towards her
❤🙏🎯
Behavior is a language!!!
Generally, my mom will turn the conversation to something related to herself for about an hour. Then she'll say to remember things will get better and quickly hang up. Some ppl just aren't able to go there or be present.
Can validate that with parents like this, empathy is important!! Doesn’t matter if you were with someone for 2 weeks, months, years, or decades. They will respond according to the video. Also doesn’t matter what YOU thought. And that cute “no one will ever be good enough for you” trope is now really sinister to hear at age 34.
Dude, who calls their parents for support and then judges them for it and throws a grown up hissy fit over another adult’s feelings. Call a friend. Talk to a therapist. Parents may be right.
I love this. Very helpful
And the dry straw hair just like me. Im now using olaplex and oiling my ends with ouai hair oil and my hair looks waaay better.
Ok… do I have ADHD or just cptsd
What if I had an EIP and now as an adult I also really struggle with being emotionally immature. When I see other people in hurt, I rush to give advice and solutions, and find it difficult to offer the more compassionate response. Would really like some advice.
I find myself in the same experience. I am helping the only way I know how.
This…. Is something I can’t even barely imagine having as a kid
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT A CORTISOL SPIKE IS ?
Thank you
Hmmm this one is interesting. I see validity in both perspectives... Not the "I'm the worst parent in the world".
I think people forget our parents were a generation without therapists. This is unempathetic.
This is very true. Depending on your age and your parent's age, your comment is more accurate than what people realise.
Not all of us are not the narcissistic monsters they play us out to be. We are all hurting and working on healing.
I love the glasses where did you get them?
Then there's the mom who will say, "it's too bad it didn't work out with Tom" as if it was a mistake to leave a bad relationship.
I really want to say the same thing to my daughter because i don't like the man she married either..But one day i realised even though i love her and know i have her best interest at heart, i finally had to realise her life is not my life and what i think of her husband is not my problem..My job is to be there if she needs me not to lecture her bit to create an environment where she feels she can feel safe if she does leave him. Ultimately i want HER to be happy and if that may not look like my idea of her happiness.
I totally get this when I’m at my worst.
I remember my mom talking to my grandma about my weight when I was like 3/4 and making excuses that it was"just" baby weight. But why the 'f did I bother you as a frekkin toddler?
These shorts trigger me about my mom. I could be thinking about the nice food I saw on here then dun du dun...I'm thinking about my evil mother's ways.
Me and my mom are 99 pounds lost it all after each kid. Our issue is random people tell us to eat more. Shit is just as offensive. Ps. Rather my mom be brutal honest with me than the jack asses who say things to me who don’t even know me.
Her face at the end 😂 Thank you for making your videos your work has really helped put past things in perspective for me! Much love❤
Ouch... I was listening to this and when she said that the mom didn't take interest in the kid's interest. My first thought was, "uhhh, I don't care what you are interested in." <--- no kids for me!!!! Like I know I am supposed to care, I just don't. Kids just aren't that interesting to me.
I have no memories from my childhood also.
When you’re the family scapegoat…
When you are hurting and looking for support from someone, what you really want is mirroring. To hear: "you are so right this is messed up, no wonder you are hurt." That brings comfort and validation. That is empathy. I see you. I can understand why you feel this way. Not "well I always knew you were making a mistake hanging out with that guy."
More communication could be used! Stating your opinion is fine, but what is said & how might make a difference! Some lessons just have to be learned or experienced!❤️🙏❤️🙏
I was a child when my traumata started. That little soul and body did everything they could to survive. I always try to be thankful for the steps little me did to keep me alive, while doing adult work to try to overcome my trauma responses with love, not anger.
I let people know that I’m the one you go to hear the tough things not the comforter. Empathy confuses me and is sporadic depending on which side is more prominent that day. I was always told, including by therapists, that the best way to get people past things is to rip the band aid off.
